Michael J. McAuliffe

Michael J. McAuliffe is a graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and the University of Notre Dame. He graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center. Mike is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the highest honor available to a trial lawyer. He has held an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over twenty five years. He has been named “Lawyer of the Year” twice by Best Lawyers Magazine, and has been named to Best Lawyers in America since 2008. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine since its inception.

Leonard Collins, CSC Prize for service to his fellow students and was inducted into the Notre Dame Student Wall of Fame. While at Georgetown, Mike was a Member of the American Criminal Law Review, received a Formal Commendation from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and received the Criminal Justice Clinic Award for Advocacy. He was also a Member of the Irish Law Students’ Association.

After clerking for the Honorable John J. Mitchell of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, he joined Jack Quinn in 1987, to form Quinn & McAuliffe, the predecessor to the firm as it is known today. He has practiced law in Maryland and the District of Columbia since 1987. He is a Member of the Maryland Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. Mike is also admitted to the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Court of Military Appeals.

Mike has served on the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Executive Committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association. He is a past Chairman of the Negligence, Insurance and Workers’ Compensation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association. He is a past President of the Montgomery County Inn of Court. He has been appointed by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to serve as Trustee and Receiver in complex corporate litigation.

Mike handles a variety of civil and criminal litigation matters. He has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict. He represents businesses and individuals in commercial litigation, personal injury matters, and workers’ compensation claims. He also practices in the areas of criminal defense and insurance coverage litigation.

Mike lives in Silver Spring with his wife and three children. In addition to law-related activities, he is active with the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church and enjoys golf when time permits.
