Michael McAuliffe is a 1983 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986. While at Georgetown, he was a Member of the American Criminal Law Review, received a Formal Commendation from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and received the Criminal Justice Clinic Award for Advocacy. He was also a Member of the Irish Law Students Association. After clerking for the Honorable John J. Mitchell of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, he joined Jack Quinn in 1987 to form Quinn & McAuliffe, predecessor to the firm as it is known today.

Mr. McAuliffe has practiced law in Rockville, Maryland since 1986. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars, and is admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. In addition, he is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the United States Court of Military Appeals.

He is a Member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Maryland State Bar Association. He served as a Member of the Executive Committee and of the Administration of Justice Committee for the Bar Association of Montgomery County. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Negligence, Insurance and Workers’ Compensation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association.

He holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has served as a Barrister in the Alan J. Goldstein Inns of Court. Serving as a Special Mediator to the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, he has been appointed by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to serve as Trustee and Receiver in cases involving complex corporate litigation.

Mr. McAuliffe handles a variety of litigation for the firm. His practice includes representation of businesses, employers’ insurers and individuals in commercial litigation, personal injury matters and workers’ compensation claims in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He also practices in the areas of insurance coverage litigation and criminal defense.

Mike lives in Silver Spring with his wife and three young children. In addition to Bar Association and law-related activities, he is active with St. Jude School in Aspen Hill, Maryland.
